STEP 6 – Get links to your site

Without good quality links to your site, your site you won’t be found in the search engines. It is vital that you get links to your site, if possible from “authority” sites – ones that have lots of links to them.

First, link to other sites. Choose sites that have similar or related themes, and invite those sites to link to you.This is hugely important. Search engines love sites that have many links to them – especially if those one-way links come from sites which are popular.

Now you see why I said build a useful, interesting site. If you do that, people are more likely to link to your site. Reciprocal links should be only a small part of your marketing strategy. They are good but less valuable than one-way links. Most of your competitors will be too lazy to go after one-way links, so you’ll have a big advantage if you do. These links can be the difference between making hobby money and making serious money.

STEP 7 – Anchor text

You will also need to understand the importance of anchor text, the words you use to link to pages on your site, the words people use when they link to your site. A basic understanding of HTML would be helpful.

To search engines, anchor text is very important.

STEP 8 – List your site in major directories and niche directories in your industry.

Here are some more directories. Be aware that some do charge a fee.

Skaffe, Joeant, Business.com, GoGuides, ThisIsOurYear, SevenSeek, WowDirectory and Best of the Web.

STEP 9 – Place your articles on other websites

Write articles and distribute them to article directories. This is one of the big strategies that you should follow. Pay attention! This is BIG.

This is the top sites in descending order of traffic, Busiest at the top.

Remember that if your article has appeal to a webmaster, it can be on the website within hours of being accepted. Also, because a great deal of new content is coming to this site daily,

Googlebot (the Google Spider) crawls this site pretty much every day too. So, if your links are going to have an effect on your search engine rankings with Google, the effect is pretty immediate.

STEP 10 – Be patient.

If your new site is typical, nothing much will seem to happen for the first couple of months or so. Don’t become frustrated. It takes time to work. The average affiliate will be tempted to give up. DON’T! The process will work. It takes TIME, be patient and give it time to work.

STEP 11 – Signs of success.

Eventually, because of all the links to your site on other sites, Google, Yahoo! and MSN will find your site and start sending you traffic. Perhaps around the three-month or four-month stage you’ll be receiving 100 visitors a day. Visitors will like what they see and some site owners will start linking to you and asking you to link to them. Keep at it. You’re just getting warmed up.

STEP 12 – The payoff

About six months down the road, after little expense but quite a lot of hard work and research, you hit your magical $250 a month mark, from affiliate sales and from AdSense ads on your site.

Depending on the niche you’ve chosen and the skills you’ve learned, you might earn considerably more than $250.

Perhaps after 12 months, you’ll be earning $400 to $1,000 a month from your site.

The checks keep coming in, month after month, even when your not at your desk working..

Of course, it’s not really easy. It just seems easy after you’ve done the hard work.

STEP 13 – The future

When you reach your goal of $250 a month, you will wonder whether you should expand your site, It can be done. The main ingredient needed is persistence. The $250 a month target is very conservative. If that’s all you earn, you’ve done something “wrong”. You haven’t chosen profitable keywords carefully enough, you haven’t built enough attractive, keyword-rich pages, you haven’t learned the basics of optimizing pages for search engines, or you haven’t attracted enough good quality links to your site.

First we need to address just what is a Domain Name?

Simply put, a domain name is your address on the web. Just as your home has an address so people can find you, your web address will allow people to find your site. It’s the title that gets typed in so folks can visit your site.

First, you must determine what the blog will be about. This blog is about making money as an affiliate. We won’t deviate from this basic theme or our readers would get confused and might not want to continue to read new articles. A primary theme is best. If you have other ideas start more blogs.

Select a service. There are many free sites to choose from. Some examples are: Blogger, Blog-City, WordPress and Mindsay. There are some others that charge a small fee. Some of these are BlogIdentity, Bubbler and TypePad. Most of the fee based services offer a free 30-60 day trial.

Setting up your blog will be relatively simple process. It sounds very technical but it usually is not. You will not have to become a nerd but will have to make some decisions about the way the blog is to look.You must decide on a theme meaning the colors, columns, and overall look of your blog.

Now that you have made your choice you will find a gallery of ready-made templates to choose from. Select one and make it reflect your personality, that is, add your images and personal information.

Add blogging features like buttons, guest books, and comment boxes for the readers’ input. You should have decided if you want this blog to private, personal or open to the public. Make sure it is open to the public if you are interested in making money. Most blogs sites offer the ability to password protect your published posts so only those you approve can view and edit what you have written.

You are now ready to create your first post. Don’t worry if you do not have a lot of experience writing articles pr posts. At he beginning you might consider shorter posts. As time goes on you will gain confidence and the posts will get longer. Stick to your field of knowledge. You know more about certain subjects than you realize.
